PART 3: The Grip of Betrayal

PART 3: The Grip of Betrayal
Estate administrators face sudden lethal fury.
The heavy silence of the kitchen shattered as my father’s fingers closed around Elena’s throat, slamming her backward against the pantry door with a bone-rattling thud.
"Richard! Stop! You're choking me!" Elena choked out, her fingernails clawing frantically at his wrists while her eyes bulged with genuine, unadulterated terror.
"You put my granddaughter in a freezing ice box!" my father roared, his face purple with rage, the veins in his temples bulging as the horrifying reality of what had almost happened settled over him. "You tried to murder an innocent child over a pile of real estate deeds!"
The nanny turned away, shielding my baby’s eyes from the violent confrontation, her shoulders shaking with suppressed adrenaline and lingering shock.
Before my father could apply enough pressure to permanently silence Elena’s desperate gasps, the heavy mahogany front door of the mansion swung open with a sharp click.
Footsteps echoed across the foyer.
"Dad? Elena? Is everything alright down here?" my brother Marcus called out, walking into the kitchen carrying a briefcase and a stack of evening mail.
Marcus stopped dead in his tracks.
He dropped his briefcase. It hit the marble floor with a heavy, echoing thud, spilling manila folders across the tiles as he stared at the horrifying scene unfolding before him.
"What... what is going on?!" Marcus shouted, rushing forward and grabbing my father’s shoulder to pry him away from Elena. "Dad, let her go! Are you out of your mind?!"
My father released his grip, stumbling backward and gasping for air himself, his chest heaving as Elena collapsed onto the floor, coughing violently and rubbing her bruised neck.
"Look at the counter, Marcus," my father pointed a shaking finger at the leather folder. "Look at what your stepmother was doing while we were out."
Marcus blinked, confused and alarmed, walking slowly over to the granite island and picking up the forged will.

As his eyes scanned the forged signatures and the asset transfer clauses, the color drained completely from his face.
"This... this is a forgery," Marcus whispered, looking up at Elena with absolute horror. "You faked Dad's signature. You were trying to steal everything."
