PART 7: The Empire Collapses

Corporate bank accounts freeze with finality.

While I was receiving lifesaving emergency surgery at the military trauma center, the legal and financial dismantlement of Edward Vance’s empire proceeded with breathtaking, military-grade efficiency.

By sunrise, the federal government had frozen every corporate asset, offshore account, and personal bank holding associated with Vance Technologies.

The board of directors held an emergency virtual meeting at 6:00 a.m., unanimously voting to strip Edward of his CEO title, his voting shares, and his corporate residence rights.

Edward sat in his ransacked dining room, surrounded by federal investigators and military police, staring blankly at a television screen broadcasting the total collapse of his stock valuation.

"This is illegal!" Edward screamed at the lead federal agent standing by the fireplace. "I demand to speak to the attorney general! You can't just seize my company over a family dispute!"

"It's not a family dispute, Mr. Vance," the agent replied calmly, snapping heavy steel handcuffs around Edward's wrists. "It's an act of domestic terrorism and accessory to attempted murder against a protected federal intelligence asset—Commander Sterling’s niece."

The color drained entirely from Edward’s face.

"A... a federal asset?" Edward choked out, his knees buckling beneath him. "Valerie was... she was just an ordinary schoolteacher's daughter..."

"Your wife was the sole legal beneficiary and operational keeper of the Sterling Intelligence Trust," the agent stated coldly. "And you spent three years treating her like a slave."

Lauren Cruz attempted to slip out the back service door with two Louis Vuitton suitcases packed with stolen jewelry, only to be intercepted by two tactical operators who zip-tied her wrists and escorted her directly into the back of a waiting transport van.
